Last month Brooklyn and I went to see Paula Deen at a cooking convention here in Houston. We love her show and recipes! She is so entertaining. It was fun because her husband and brother in-law came too. They were cracking us up the entire time. It felt like we were at her home, she really knows how to run a show.
She told us she gets mistaken for a Texan all the time because of her Southern accent but said she doesn't mind because her personality fits the bill anyway, haha. She is so tiny in person! I don't know where she has all the energy to do what she does but she is hilarious.
We didn't get to try her food (her husband cooked a lot of it!) but she made mac and cheese, Grandgirl's fresh apple cake, oven-fried chicken and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else. Surprisingly, the show was not about the food though. It was all about getting to know Paula and her cute family. She wasn't hesitant to share her belief in God multiple times and I was happy the crowd heartily supported her in it.
I just noticed her Halloween costume on her website and it is cracking
me up! I wish I had more pictures from the event but it was so busy I
forgot to.
This one is a lot more appropriate though, haha. Her husband is so nice to dress up like that!

I love this, Mel! The show sounds like it was SO fun; I am definitely jealous! Miss y'all!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! I love Paula Deen. I'm going to have to remember that Bread n' Butter costume for next year. I don't think I could pull it off in time for this year:)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you got to do this. What a fun experience! She cracks me up. Her laugh is so contagious.
